Job Purpose / Duties & Responsibilities

BG Precision CNC, a division of BG Automation, LLC (an affiliate of BG Products, Inc.) started as a local machine shop in 1999 and continues to grow significantly as a custom AS9100 / ITAR certified job shop that manufactures tight tolerance components for multiple national industries including Automotive / Transportation, Agriculture, General Industry, Aviation, Aerospace and Defense applications.

We are looking for highly skilled machinists with experience in CNC Lathes and/or Mills to join and responsible for conducting preventative maintenance, troubleshoot and repairs to join the our growing team in Derby, KS.

Duties & Responsibilities: 
  • Adhere to company policies and presents a professional, positive attitude at all times.
  • Install, repair or service machinery, equipment, and support systems as required.
  • Work directly with production associates and management to problem solve and correct equipment reliability issues.
  • Execute predictive and preventative maintenance practices for all production and/or batching equipment.
  • Identify and correct potential equipment problems using various troubleshooting methods.
  • Properly perform all necessary maintenance tasks to production lines (changeovers, component replacements/repairs/rebuilds/modifications).
  • Ensure quality of work to reduce call backs.
  • Clean work areas and maintain organization with supplies, tools, and equipment.
  • Comply with and participate with BG safety and quality guidelines.
  • Participate in all training and educational activities.
  • Will work overtime as needed while remaining flexible to changing schedules.
  • Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools or materials onto machines.
  • Use measuring instruments or gauges to assure conformance to all quality specifications.
  • Observe and listen to operating machines to diagnose machine malfunctions and to determine the need for adjustments or repairs.
  • Machine quality parts to meet production schedules and delivery requirements.
  • Document part quantities both accepted and rejected.
  • Complete documentation to meet all ISO requirements.
  • Be on call and available to come in for maintenance and repairs.
  • Other duties as needed or assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

Knowledge:

  • Mechanical — Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Mathematics Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.
  • Design — Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
  • English Language — Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
  • Engineering and Technology — Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
  • Must possess basic electrical knowledge; check voltage, amperage, continuity with a multi-meter and able to read electrical diagrams.  
Skills:
  • Equipment Maintenance — Performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed.

  • Operations Monitoring — Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
  • Repairing — Repairing machines or systems using the needed tools.
  • Troubleshooting — Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it.

Working Conditions:  Duties will be performed in a climate-controlled environment, wearing safety glasses and safety shoes and all appropriate PPE. 

Physical Requirements:  
Requires stooping, bending, stretching, twisting, walking, and lifting of up to 50 pounds occasionally. Must be able to stand for extended periods of time. Must possess fine dexterity motor skills.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED preferred. 
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Three(3) to Five (5) years experience in manufacturing environment preferred. 
  • Experience in electrical, mechanical, maintenance and CNC machines (lathes and mills) desired.
